Guest guest
Posted Sat Jul 21, 2007 4:53 pm (PST) "Compared with placebo, high-dose simvastatin treatment does not appear to reduce the progression of coronary artery calcified plaque or abdominal aortic calcium levels in subjects without symptoms of vascular disease, according to North Carolina-based researchers. " Thoughts from my sister, the cardiology professor: "Yes, that means people shouldn't be shelling out to get their coronary calcium measured. It's the wrong thing to measure. Statins improve every functionally relevant cardiovascular outcome measured so far, including sudden death!" JB *************************** I got my clacium score and I was at the median level But I just found out in the lipodystrophy conference that calcium scoring is not a reliable thing for HIVers anyway since it seems that we have problems in calcium metabolism and the "norma" for the general population may not apply to us. Insurance companies refuse to pay for calcium score due to the conflicting data. I paid $300 out of pocket Vergel powerusa dot org also at nelsonvergel@... AOL now offers free email to everyone.
