Prednisone - only kids respond?

My son's Dr mentioned that a sure way to figure out if my son's

episodes are is to give him Prednisone. She said if the

Prednisone works then we know it's . If it doesn't work, then we

know it's something else. I asked if Prednisone works on FMF and TRAPS

and she said no.

Just curious if anyone who has a definitive FMF or TRAPS diagnosis

responds to Prednisone(or if they haven't). I can't understand why

Prednisone would work on but not FMF or TRAPS(guess that's why

I'm not a Dr!) Curious of other experiences out there.

BTW - she is still proceeding with genetic testing. She suggested we

have Prednisone on hand during the holiday season so we can fully

enjoy it(fever free!) and added that a bonus would be to see his

response.
