Guest guest
Hello All, I have not been reading the messages in this group for a long time, since we decided to " ignore " the fevers as the doctors recommended. What I mean with ignore is that we decided to stop looking for the cause and simply live with the fact that they come. We have done all the tests we could and since they were all negative we simply assumed that it was , and the doctors advised us to " wait and see " since we didn´t seems to suffer much. (the fevers of my some are low and he does not mind them much.) But he does mind his permanent headache and we therefore have decided to have a T & A, which brings me to my questions: 1) The doctor doing the surgery has never done it on a kid before. How is the surgery different on a kid (compared to a " normal " tonsillectomy)? For example: should the tonsils be removed completely or only partially? Has my son a higher risk of bleeding and therefore should stay longer at the hospital for observation? Can the surgery be done during a fever? right after? right before? 2) Here on the list everybody seem to be removing the adenoids as well (why do you otherwise call it T & *A*?) Why should this be done? I would in other words like to have a list of things that a ignorant surgeon should know about " the usual T & A for kids " . Karin PS. My son is 6.5 years old
