i propose an anonymous poll about HIVers & suicide here at

. would be interested in publishing results here & at aids-write.

these are the questions i think:

what year were you

diagnosed with your hiv infection?

have you thought about

suicide in the last week? (is it part of your vocabulary?)

have you though about

suicide in the last month?

have you ever talked

with anyone about suicide?

in the last week? in

the last month?

have you ever thought

about trying to kill yourself?

in the last week? in

the last month?

serious rating, 0-10

each.

have you ever tried to

kill yourself?

do you know any HIVers

who tried to kill themselves

(and i don’t mean philosophically, and i’m not talking about a

self-destructive lifestyle)

have you ever known an

HIVer who wanted to kill

herself?

do you know any HIVers

who succeeded?

do you know any HIVers

who tried to kill themselves and failed?

often drug overdoses

are disguised suicides. do you know someone who overdosed who might fall

into this category, a disguised suicide? (gut feeling, not based on

evidence)

do you take an

antidepressant?

do you medicate with

cannabis?

are you bipolar?

are you depressed?

do you medicate for

anxiety (valium, xanax, ativan, etc)?

i would invite a brief discussion of these questions, and then let’s

set them up and run the poll.
