Guest guest
Hi All, I wanted to add my own experiences as it pertains to selenium. I stated taking selenium about 6 months ago. I use The Vitamin Shoppe brand 100 mcg once a day. I also take a "One A Day Maximum" multivitamin which contains 20mcgs of selenium. I also take two antidepressants (wellbutrin and Lexipro) but I assume they don't have an impact on the numbers. Here are my numbers over the same period (note, I am not currently on any HIV meds): Sep. 2006 CD4:554 VL: 38,100 %28 Dec. 2006 CD4: 515 VL: 26,900 %28 Mar. 2007 CD4: 302 VL: 39,600 %26 Apr. 2007 CD4: 456 VL: 77600 %26 So my T's are going down regardless. I assume this is the natural progression of the virus. Who knows? Maybe the selenium is keeping the % up or even making the decline less severe? I am starting K-Pax soon as I am worried about the recent decline and I think it is time to start bring out the "big guns" prior to starting meds as I am sure i will be soon. Most likely Atripla. On another note. My April CD4 reading was from a blood draw that was taken right after a weekend of fevers and flue like symptoms along with an elevated WBC. I was given antibiotics. Couldn't it be true that the elevation in Ts was due to an immune response to the bacterial infection?
