Guest guest
I am sure this has been discussed before, but do you find your children to be especially sensitive to sound and light (at all times, not just during a fever? Everything is " too loud " or " too bright " for our 2.5 year old. The opthamologist checked her eys and said she was just light sensitive, but wondering if there is any link? Guest guest
My son had liked wearing sunglasses ever since he discovered them and hates the sun in his eyes. I've always thought this because he is very fair and has light blue eyes. For sound definitely not. We have taken him to monster truck, IMAX movies, flight simulators, and we had major construction done to our home with very loud nail guns and he was loving it. When fevering (with an accompanying massive headache) he is sensitive to everything which is understandable. Guest guest
Hi, I did post something similar awhile back. Our son (2 1/2) is always sensitive to light and sound. During his fevers it is over the top. We have not been to an eye doc, but did go to an audiologist. They diagnosed him with hyperacusis (sound sensitivity) in the 500 frequency range, which tends to be women's voices (think the shrill kind, high pitched crying..etc). I feel the sound part is related because when he has gone for a longer period of time without his fever things seem to get better. I would love to know what you have done to help with this. Ethan (2 1/2 fevering since 3 months)

Guest guest
My son, Calder, is also very light sensitive. We had him checked about a year and a half ago by an opthamologist at the suggestion of his pediatrician just to be sure. He told us he is just light sensitive. He too likes to wear sunglasses outside all the time. He did not seem to be noise sensitive but in the last year decided he does not like to go to the movie theater because it is too loud. Interesting.
Guest guest
My daughter has very sensitive hearing and sometimes complains that the sun is too bright when we are driving someplace. I've never really thought of it before, because her father also has the super sonic hearing. He was sick quite a bit as a child. His mother always said it was asthma, but just this one poast has made me wonder. His mother died two years ago, so I can't really ask her if he had frequent unexplained fevers. Hmmmm..... Guest guest
hello everyone. I had replied to this message before but just wanted to share some news. My son who is 3 had a consult with ENT. It was decided that my son have a T & A, due to fevers and enlarged tonsils. We had seen a neurologist in January due to my sons sensitivity to light and his strange blinking episodes he experiences a few days before a fever comes on. He had an MRI of his head and behind his eyes. The MRI came back fine, but before ENT will release him for surgery he has to be cleared from neurology. My son just had an EEG done to rule out seizures, which we all thought would come out fine, but to our surprise it came back abnormal. We are now scheduled for a 4 hour EEG that will be video taped to see what is exactly going on. I don't know if it is related or just Coincidental. Just thought it was something to share. Guest guest
-My 3 yr old daughter is a very sensitive child....she always asks about noises (motorcycles..thunder...horns) and is easily offended at times. The day of her fever she has a low grade temp that climbs to 103-104 by that evening and she has a terrible headache right at the onset of of the low temp...(the kind that shuts her down to sleeping mode) almost migraine like to me....poor baby holds her head...its horrible. I've started giving her cimetidine or trying to...that stuff is horrible...she had 4 days of it and she skipped an entire fever episode.....the next one came like clockwork... so I'm desperately looking for ways to make it go down better b/c any relief is some relief....her last fever was very manageable as well...no major spiking noted. I personally feel that the sensitivity is linked to this illness.. Tammy
