Guest guest
My daughter, who's had fever since she was 2, and now she is almost 8, would have a similar thing. She would start coming down with a cold, and then 2 days later it would become her next episode with a very high fever, leg pain and mouth sores. I think somebody mentioned, that their bodies when under stress react with an episode. But as I mentioned already she was fever free for 18 months and it came back again this year. I never gave her any of the medications that are recomended for patients, but she was on an alternative medicine for 6 months before she stoped fevering. I began giving her this medication again. We'll se.
Guest guest
There was one time I suspected my daughter got a cold from visiting the Pediatrician office to check a fever episode. Of cource that was before she was diagnosed - after our diagnosis, we stopped going to the Pedatrician with every fever. I don't remeber the specifics of that illness but it was not long after that when we had blood drawn during a fever. The blood work showed highly elevated CRP levels which FINALLY got us refered to ID dr. Good Luck.
Guest guest
My daughter has caught a cold during a fever episode and it seemed to take the fever away...she only had a fever for 1 day and then the cold/virus. I find it very interesting that it seems they can't have both going on at the same time. Your situation seems a bit unique since your child hasn't been having regular fever episodes for a while...but my non-medical opinion leads me to think that it might be because she is catching these viruses and her body can not do both. Guest guest
When my Alli gets a cold (which is hardly ever) it always throws her fevers off schedule or stops a regular fever in it's tracks...especially if the fever reaches 101..that seems to be the magic number for the mixup. I always count ahead 14 days and expect another one...if she gets another one it's usually only around 102 at the highest. If not...she goes a full 28 day cycle again. Strange I know...any fever throws the immune system outta whack and off schedule it seems. She also gets a " cold like " runny nose...stuffiness at the end of her fevers sometimes....and that usually makes her next fever weaker. All she usually gets in the viral dept is the croup. She's tiny so her airways get irritated easily in the Spring. Hope this helps...

Guest guest
- my husband and I were just talking about the same thing. My daughter (who hasn't been offically diagnosed yet) cycles every 14 days (on Thursdays every time!), and on May 1st she began her cycle. She also had what we believed to be a sinus infection and possibly some sort of upper respiratory infection. She did fever as normal, but this cycle seemed to be very short - she was better by late Friday/early Saturday, and they usually last from Thursday to Sunday or Monday. We believe that the fever episode didn't last as long because it actually had something to fight this time. She was almost her normal self, but just with a fever. She was not as lethargic as a normal episode, again we think because the fever was actually fighting off something (a virus) instead of just fighting her body. I find it interesting that others are experiencing the same thing. Jeana - mom to Meghan 5, fevering since October 2008
