Guest guest
>How can you or I be sure that our relative acceptance of other races etc. is due to our Aspie genes and not to the indoctrination that everyone has equal value (that at least I was taught in school as a child of the 60's, which you too are)? Rory comments: I don't think scientist currently believe that the idea of race is meaningful. I don't know what it [the word 'race'] actually means anymore. Can someone please provide a scientifically acceptable definition of race? I thought it had been thrown out by now. Just think of how silly it is to classify Jewish people as a distinct and separate race. (I grew up in a country obsessed with racial classification. I once met an American who claimed he was Black. From my perspective he was White. So it is in the eyes of etc. just how meaningful the terms black or white actually are is highly debateable. > " .everyone has equal value " Rory says: Surely this simply means that we are all equal in the eyes of the law/[God?] " and has nothing whatsoever to do with the notion that we all are capable of or do perform equally well. That would be just plain silly. We are all genetically different and different people from different parts of the world can perform better on some tasks and than others. This has nothing to do with 'superiority " it is just a matter of fact. So, if I was looking for a long-distance runner I would probably go to somewhere like Ethiopia or thereabouts rather than to .. I was going to say Alaska but then maybe the people in Alaska have incredible endurance as I suspect they might have (I don' know). Maybe Italy ??? or .... The aim here is not to offend anyone ( : - ))
