Guest guest
Hi Jen and congratulations on your new family member. Did you keep the name Max? It makes me so happy when an animal is adopted that needs a home. It sounds like Max fit right in the very first day. I think they know when they are loved and feel secure. We adopted a neglected Cocker Spaniel named Samoa. Her real name is " Gimme Samoa " and her mother is Jamica or " Jamica Me Crazy " . Strange names but we left her name as Samoa so she'd feel more relaxed. I can't say she is the best dog we've ever had but there is no way that I would ever give her back. We are her fourth owners and our other Cocker Spaniel, Phoebe, (We Be Cool) they called her Wee Bee so I changed it to Phoebe. I thought that was close enough to her original name that she wouldn't get confused, was adopted by us and we are her fourth owners also. I can't imagine anyone taking a dog and then saying they don't want it. Samoa is still very insecure when people come over and she runs and hides and barks and growls. I truly believe that she will never conquer those traits but I've fallen madly in love with her and accept her no matter how she acts. She loves me to death and will not let me out of her sight. I'm sure you feel the same way about Max. There's nothing like a pet to hold on to and to tell your troubles to when you are feeling down. My first memories when I was around two years old were of Betsy, our Springer Spaniel and I've always had a dog since. My son thinks that Samoa might be my last dog as we are getting up in age but we'll see....... ) A woof woof to Max and a scratch behind the ears for all of you... ) xxoo Carmen
Guest guest
Hey Carmen, yes Max was already his name so since he was 5 yrs old already I didnt want to confuse him.. We took him to pets mart today to by him some new things, he did really good in the store, I was so proud of him. He does try to take on the big male dogs though!! I guess he has the little dog syndrome...LOL... Max has already taken to my husband, more so than with me. And my cat, well she is still so mad about it, he wont leave her alone, he wants to smell of her and that he tried to lick her and she popped him but he still didnt back off. She's a very peculiar cat, she is very prim and proper, prissy type, doesnt like to have one speck of dirt on her, and she hates it when we kiss her on the nose. She has this attitued that she is better than the dogs, and how dare they touch her....LOL... but she made the mistake of running off the bed so he chased her a bit, so now she is a little scared of him, but I think it will work out. She did got with our golden retriever, but that is becasue he never got in her face. It's so sad what some of these animals have been through, I cant bring myself to go to a shelter, it just really gets to me. Im so sensitive when it comes to animals, I cant stand to see a dog or cat hurt, but humans well I mean I wish they wouldnt get hurt but I can deal with a human patient much better, it's not as sad to me, except for kids. He's the perfect size to be a therapy dog, so Im going to see if some of the assisted living places and nursing homes will let me bring him over for visits. My Golden, bless his heart, we coulndt ever take him because we were afraid he may have one of his seizures and it would scare the patients... he continued to have about 1 seizure a day even with the max amount of meds, but guess what every since his surgery in March, we got him neutered too, he hasnt had a seizure at all... weird. vet has no clue why, but he says dont worry about it just be greatful he isnt having them anymore. well take care Jenn
