Guest guest
Hi Stilligans, Joined your group a week ago and enjoy all your emails so much! You are such a friendly, helpful bunch! By way of introduction, my name is Dennis and I live in Bradenton, Florida. I was diagnosed with AOSD in 1993 after enduring 5 long years of incorrect diagnoses and hearing Dr. after Dr. tell me " It's all in your head. " I spent many months bedridden with chills, fevers, sweats, spots, and joints so swollen and painful. I finally found a female Dr. who took one look at me and actually wept and said " Oh, you poor dear! You have the body of an 80 yr old! " (I was 38 at the time) She referred me to a rheummy who prescribed prednisone and weekly MTX injections. I started to feel better the very first week but the Dr. kept increasing the dosages of both meds for several months. After 6 months or so he gradually weaned me from the prednisone, and decreased my MTX every few months after that. I am now taking only .5 cc MTX IM once a week. Other than feeling very tired much of the time and an occasional tiny flare up, I feel pretty good. I see my rheummy and have lab work every 8 weeks. I also take RX strength folic acid, calcium, vitamin E, glucosamine and vitamin C. Thanks for taking the time to read this email and please know that all of you in this group are very special to me. Wishing you a pain-free day,
