Guest guest
Yes, and my experience was ok - I've had all 4 wisdom teeth out with local anaesthetic without any problems - just felt like you might need a good luck story to balance things out! Guest guest
I had my wisdom teeth pulled a few years a go. It really wasn't that bad. My dentist because of my illness always has me take antibiotics before my dental visit. Even just for a cleaning. Do the rest of you do this just curious? Love, jatw@... Guest guest
I must admit that I hadn't heard of taking antibiotics before dental treatment. I do however have to take double steroids for 3 days (day before, day of treatment, day after), I presume this is fairly standard? Graham West Sussex UK. Guest guest
Graham, now that you have hip replacements you will need to take antibiotics before any dental proceedure, including cleaning, taking the steroids could actually increase your chance of developing an infection and slow healing. The ADA recommends antibiotics for the first two years post op. Believe me you dont ever want to get an infection in your prosthesis. Guest guest
Thanks , I will have to see my rheumy about that!!! I can't understand why they didn't mention it! I'm only on 2mg of steroids now so the risks are presumably much lower than they were. Guest guest
Dear , yes I used to do this, but being the whimp that I am, and the dentist being my least favorite person now a days...I have not done it in a while, but yes ....I did do this. Love, Sue #2 -- Pulling my Wisdom Teeth My dentist because of my illness always has me take antibiotics before my dental visit. Even just for a cleaning. Do the rest of you do this just curious? Guest guest
I spoke to my surgeon and he confirmed that it is advisable to take 48 hours of antibiotic cover for dental treatment although he did say that the British Dental Association (BDA) is still out on that one! I can't believe that no one had thought to mention this to me before, not the surgeon, not my rheumy, not the nurses, nor my dentist! This has been typical of my care, it is so disjointed, no joined-up thinking whatsoever! Thank God for this group and the Internet...
