The real reason behind it is that people were calling it the NW Family Services NFP method which has a regional focus. Since people around the country are using our program, we felt we needed to have a name with a more universal appeal. The intention was not to avoid any association with NFP. Make sense? Here is a discussion I am interested in observing----a term to replace Natural Family Planning? NWFS has trademarked Fertility Matters, CrM has trademarked FertilityCare....but those are specific terms to describe their programs (probably at least in part because they are trying to avoid the assumptions associated with the term Natural Family Planning). But what about an umbrella term for natural methods? Fertility Appreciation is sometimes used, or Fertility Awareness (but usually denotes incorporation of other methods----barriers----for family planning purposes). Do people feel a need to consider a new term to describe the variety of natural methods available for family planning and women's health?
