Hello Everyone,

I hope to catch up on my email this evening. I am a little worried though.

My stomache from my chest down to my belly button is swollen and hard. It

feels like I have really over exercised but I haven't. This area is quite

tender and feels like one big bruise. I am also getting what seems like

muscle spasms quite frequently in this area.

My husbands thinks it could be my intestines that are swollen. Has anyone

experienced this or have any idea what it could be? I have a Doc.

appointment with my Rheumy in about 2 weeks. I will talk to him about this

then or I might even call him when he is in on Tuesday. This worries me

because I have always had such problems with my bowels. Any comments,

suggestions, experiences etc... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

jatw@...

called the doctor now and get this figured out or go to your nearest

Emerg. Department. This doesn't sound normal to me. If you are in any

pain, then don't wait. Better safe then sorry.

Take care,

, I have some experience in having problems with swollen stomach and

abdomen. Have you ever been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome? It is

a condition that is also associated with autoimmune diseases, like Stills.

It could be your intestines are swelling and twisting. It would be a

serious issue if it got bad enough to stop your intestines from functioning.

Believe me, I know, because I've been through it and am still going through

it. I was admitted through the ER and was constantly watched by the on-call

surgical team because my colon had swollen up to about the size of a

softball (or more). They were concerned my intestines would rupture. That

would be a DEADLY emergency! Not to scare you, but checking it out sooner

may be a very smart idea.

It could also be that your spleen and liver are swollen and enlarged. If

you're in a flare, that would be a pretty reasonable symptom to have. But

again, it still is not something that you should wait to find out about.

Please write down all the symptoms you're having immediately, then be seen

as soon as you can. If you get worse, , get to the ER right away!

I have a lot of gastrointestinal problems, so if you want to talk to me or

have any questions, please feel free to call me at 608-205-9136. DON'T WAIT

for your symptoms to get worse! Please?!

All my heart,

Jul

I really would suggest you saw a doctor right away about this. When i was

in hospital last year this is what happenned to me, a doc looked at my

stomach and had me transferred to a different hospital right away for an

emergency bowel operation....not to worry you as it could be something quite

unworrying but you really should get it checked. Swelling of your stomach

could indicate your bowels are inflamed or similar. Also im sure ive read in

various articles that there can be links between rheumatic conditions and

bowel problems.

, i know an unpleasant question but have you been to the toilet

properly since you got this? Its a good indication of whether theres

anything wrong e.c.t.

I really hope its nothing....but do get it checked. Or i will worry! I'll be

thinking of you! Love, Kate xxx
