Does anyone know if NFP services are included in the current Preventative Care Mandate (of which contraception, sterilizations and abortions are currently offered)? Has anyone actually read it? I know that even the congresspeople that voted on it didn't read it, so I wouldn't expect any of us to have actually read it...Blessings, Dr. Peck, MD, CCD, ABFM, Marquette NFP InstructorPecks Family Practice, PLC1688 W Granada Blvd, Ste 2AOrmond Beach, FL 32174(386) 677-2018 fax:

I have no idea - but my main fear - and I haven't heard it addressed - is whether insurance panels will be forced to exclude any providers from their panels IF they do not provide - or refer - for contraception, sterilizations and abortions. I am almost positive they will - as "all women have the right to these services." They seem pretty militant on these provisions. (Will the Bishops back us up as strongly as they do their "institutions?")

NFP was not included, nor were condoms or vasectomies. Lee Ann Doerflinger From: happyfive@...Date: Sun, 6 May 2012 11:29:20 -0400Subject: Re: Question re: NFP and Health Care Mandate

I would “assume” that the “other side” considers NFP or Fertility awareness as just another type of contraception; as such, I would assume that they (who support it or wrote it) intend that it applies to all “contraceptives/contraception”; since the only CPT codes for payment in the medical office are usually billed under “family planning” and the classes are taught separately (not in the office) that probably nothing would change other than there may be some way to bill for the classes depending on how they are promoted and coded- but they would have to be taught by a health care provider (i.e. physician, NP, PA, CNM, etc- someone who can now be reimbursed for these services and under a physician’s billing ID). I did not read the mandate, but I did provide testimony before the committee. If I recall, the mandate only applies to FDA approved forms of contraception which would not include NFP.Sincerely,Marguerite DuaneSent from my iPhoneOn May 6, 2012, at 3:29 PM, "Les Ruppersberger" <lruppersberger@...> wrote:
