my boys slept in their bouncers a lot too-because one had

gastroesophagual(sp?) reflux really bad. I *think* I remember noticing our

son's head before that though.But we were so worried about his torticollis

that we kind of put the head thing on the back shelf for awhile. After he

was dianosed as having plagio-they told us that he had positional plagio and

that it happened in the womb because he was baby a and he was being shoved

by baby b ,who decided to be breech.

Now that you are mentioning some thought's on plagio...I'm wondering how

many people who have one twin with plagio had their second twin breech(maybe

baby b was causing too much stress on baby a? )

Hmmm? Any thoughts any one?

hey Jill, both my boys were vertex! Andy's head was way, way down in my

pelvis for many weeks and his body off to the side... I always carried

him low to begin with. Nick being on top of him regardless of nick's

position is probably what caused the torticollis with andy. that's what

we think anyway! diane

respiratory distress -and we later found out that he has a bicuspid aortic

valve. Sometimes I wonder if all that time in the N.I.C.U caused his plagio.

He was alway's so dwarfed by all the tubes and things that I'm lucky I got

to see his face! So I'm thinking MAYBE he did'nt have it at birth and it

just developed the first few weeks?

I have looked high and low for an advertisement I saw years ago. It was for a special type of hammock for a crib. It attached somehow to the crib and "made" the baby sleep in the middle of it on the baby's side. It was well ventilated and I remember it being touted as the "next great thing" for SIDS prevention. Seems it would be ideal for preventing this flat spot problem as well. If anyone else has seen this, please let me know. It was in the catalog "One Step Ahead".

It would make sense, wouldn't it? A preemie has such a thin skull. They aren't really supposed to be subjected to gravity's forces yet and there they are, stuck in one position on a "hard" isolet or incubator or whatever.
