Guest guest
As for coffee, I don't know. I've read that coffee is good for some things, like preventing alzhiemers (sp), but my doctor, a Chinese Herbalist MD and PHD, told me not to drink coffee. I cried... I love coffee. Then to my surprise she said I could drink tea instead. I've always thought that tea has more caffine in it than coffee. So maybe its not the caffine that she was worried about. If your hubby really likes to get a boost, green tea is wonderful. It takes a while to get used to the slightly bitter taste, but it will certainly give you a lift in the morning, and it is reported to have the highest levels of some chemical that fights cancer. It's natural! And I think a billion Chinese can't be wrong. And though they don't all drink green tea, red and a mix of red and green are also popular, almost everyone here drinks tea everyday. Even the children! Makes me wonder about Mom and Dad telling us kids that coffee would stunt our growth... most of these folks are pretty darn short... The last thing I'll say before I go to bed is: Don't take the adice, no matter how well intended it may be, from me or anyone without checking it with your most trusted sources. ie Your Dr. his Dr. etc. and its a good idea to get more than one opinion. Guest guest
Ahem I rather like the taste of Green tea. But if you really want to jazz it up. Try a little honey in it. Ummm good. I give to my daughter and hubbie when they have a sore throat. They love it too. We drink it hot, and iced. As for coffee, my doctor has not restricted my coffee intake. But I personally have taken it back to 2 cups per day. Look you wouldn't want to see me without my coffee. But I do drink decaff. Because well I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off have the time anyway cause I am so hyper. LOL But white tea is supposed to be high in anti-oxidents also. Go out and enjoy a cup of tea today!! It is fun. Love JanetHunter <us2china2@...> wrote: As for coffee, I don't know. Guest guest
Janet, and all, you mentioned honey in your tea. Honey is the one natural medicine that I will take daily for the rest of my days. If you look at any countries natural medicines, you will find honey. It is globally known for curative powers and for strenghtening the overall health. I read that Russian Cosomnauts started taking honey daily at least six months before any mission. They started with a tblsp or so, and worked up to some ungodly amount, like two cups. They even inisted that when they let someone from another country go with them on a mission, that they too completed this regime. Now, since I've been in China, I've learned that if the honey is heated to above about 70 F. it loses most of its healthy properties. So, most of the honey you buy in stores in the U.S. is not as good for you as pure natural honey, since what you get off the shelf is processed. So, if you want to get the best out of honey, buy it from a bee keeper, and don't put it in 110 degree tea or coffee. I don't have any facts to back up this idea about heat. But every person I've talked to here, and they come from all over China, 56 different ethnicities, all agree, "Don't mix it in hot water." Love to all, Eat honey, sleep well, be well!Janet <doc_jade@...> wrote: Ahem I rather like the taste of Green tea. But if you really want to jazz it up. Try a little honey in it. Ummm good. Guest guest
Yupper you are right about that Chris. I get my honey from a local beekeeper. Helps with my allergies. I get mine from a beekeeper that lives within a 5 mile radius of my home. Why? because the bees collect the pollen from flowers that grow in that 5 mile radius. I take a tsp. a day. That way I build a immunity to the pollen. LOL Just some thinking of mine, I don't know if there is research on my particular thinking. But it works for me, and maybe it is the placebo effect I don't know. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. LOL Yes, I know about putting honey in hot water. But I loves the taste of honey (70's album name, who was that he played a horn. Dang, oh yeah Herb Albert). LOL I love honey and scones. Hmmm Well back to my beauty treatments. LOL I am in the bathroom curling my hair, I am going to post some pictures in my 360 blog. You will laugh when you see them. hint: Suzanne Sugarbaker-Designing women. Guest guest
YOU are absolutely RIGHT!!! Honey that is unpasturized has all the enzymes that are so needed in our diet.. but if you heat them above 117 degrees, it will kill all the enzymes.. I take 1 tablespoon of raw honey each day.. its very healthy and what the docs and scientists are now finding that honey and other foods that have enzymes are so important for our health cuz we only have "a set quota" of enzymes,, so by taking them in our diet, we can keep our health longer... Im taking classes on enzymes and antioxidants right now,, its very interesting but RAW honey is what we need,, but NEVER, EVER give raw honey to a baby under 1 year of age,, it has spores in it that can cause fatal illness in infants... Hunter <us2china2@...> wrote: Janet, and all, you mentioned honey in your tea. But every person I've talked to here, and they come from all over China, 56 different ethnicities, all agree, "Don't mix it in hot water." But I personally have taken it back to 2 cups per day. Look you wouldn't want to see me without my coffee. But I do drink decaff. Because well I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off have the time anyway cause I am so hyper. LOL But white tea is supposed to be high in anti-oxidents also.
