Have you tried the liver and gall bladder flush that Will has posted in the

Files? It has helped me along with GAPS. I had to go through it several times to

notice a difference.

Also, dandelion root and Yogi detox teas help support the liver.

Hi ,

A few questions, which you don't need to answer if you don't feel comfortable

sharing, but may be helpful in finding an answer to your original question.

Are you on the GAPS diet for a reason other than to lose weight?

Do you have symptoms that make targeting your liver a priority?

In my experience I've found that it's best to find out what's going on in my

body specifically, rather than going with a one-size-fits-all regimen (such as a

cleanse.) Sure, cleanses have their benefits and can be helpful, but if you're

ignoring a different or perhaps bigger problem you will not get the desired

results. In fact, you could exacerbate another problem in the process. Our

bodies are one big machine and we need to keep the big picture in mind, rather

than hyper-focusing on one small system within before knowing what's going on

with the other systems.

Have you had any bloodwork done? Do you have any deficiencies (vit D and

magnesium are big ones that come to mind, but there are many possibilities) that

should be addressed? Any symptoms of another organ being more highly burdened?

I believe that our bodies default to healthy weights when everything is working

properly and we maintain a healthy diets, which is why what works for one person

(a certain diet, a certain cleanse, a certain supplement, etc.) may not work for

another. Each body has different chemistry and deficiencies and overloads. If

you can find what your body needs (possibly a cleanse, possibly a lifestyle

change, possibly elevating certain nutrient levels, maybe a combo) the weight

will likely fall off as a result. Yes, exercise can help, but I would

first/concurrently get a better picture of what's going on in your body and

address any issues that you find rather than waiting for more obvious symptoms

to appear.

Best wishes to you,

Alyssa

Hey Alyssa -

My entire family has been doing GAPS, under the leadership of my amazing wife

. We've gone through the entire intro and are now in maintenance mode. We

have found it incredibly beneficial. It was amazing to see how our two boys

changed in their overall behavior and health.

Losing weight is not the primary focus of doing GAPS. I have a history of

gluten and dairy allergies (except for raw milk). My extended family have

extreme intestinal issues. Last year, my brother had his colon removed from his

body temporarily to allow it to heal. Both him and my father have

diverticulitis. For me, GAPS has been a way to permanently modify my lifestyle

to avoid the health manifestations I've seen in my extended family.

Someone had previously recommended that I check out the liver cleanse that Will

posted in the files section of the TFMN group. Upon close observation, it

looks like it originally came from " The Cure for all Diseases " by Hulda Regehr

, Ph.D., N.D.

Reading through her explanation of the liver cleanse, it sounds like a

beneficial thing that people should do twice a year. Cleansing the liver,

removes the body of 100s-1000s of gallstones that can cause allergies in people.

It seems compelling enough of a case to consider it.

Has anyone does the liver cleanse in Regehr's book?

GAPS is a lifestyle change based on the study of Dr. Natasha -McBride.

It comes from her book Gut and Psychology Syndrome. You can check out more

information on it at gapsguide.com or Dr. NCM blog at
