Guest guest
You can get free 73oz glass jars for kombucha from a bar that uses olives. They're usually happy to give them away since they have to dispose of them anyway.
Guest guest
If you are interested in the 2 gallon size for Kombucha (purchased at Target) I have a few available for $8 each. Any place that uses the pickles, olives or banana peppers such as Jimmy 's or a Deli often use the gallon size jars that they toss otherwise. love and gratitude, Barb Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Where to buy glass canning jars? I'm looking for quart sized glass jars for canning and gallon sized glass jars for Kombucha. Looking on amazon and a few other websites the prices for these are ridiculous! I was wondering if anyone knew of a source that sell these at resonable prices, or had some themselves they would be willing to sell. Please let me know, Thank you

Guest guest
I recommend looking on Craigslist. I bought some 1/2 gallon jars for $1 each from someone not too long ago. I also bought quart-sized jars. I don't remember what I paid for those, but it was much cheaper than I could find anywhere online or in stores. > > I'm looking for quart sized glass jars for canning and gallon sized glass jars for Kombucha. Guest guest
We've always gone to the Arc thrift store or Wal-Mart. ------------------------------------------- Berry thematthewberry@... ------------------------------------------- On Jul 3, 2011, at 8:20 PM, cowartbeth wrote: > You can get free 73oz glass jars for kombucha from a bar that uses olives. Guest guest
Right now Wal Mart has canning jars on sale quite cheaply. But if you don't shop there try Mills Fleet Farm. They are usually less expensive that Wal Mart in general and have good supplies as well. They also have canning stuff that goes on sale about every other week over summer/fall. They have sizes from the small 4oz jars to half gallon size and lids of course. Also pressure cookers, water bath canners, food mills, etc.

Guest guest
Quart wide mouth are on sale at Menard's right now for $7.98 for a 12-pack, including lids and bands. All their other canning jars are also on sale. > > I'm looking for quart sized glass jars for canning and gallon sized glass jars for Kombucha. Guest guest
I don't know if anyone is still on the search but I just talked to Kubat who has two full pallets of the best Ball jars, wide-mouths, with lids, pint sized and she's letting them go for $7.25 a case. This is a great deal. She said she might be willing to go a bit less if you want to buy the whole lot. Email her direct at nitewoodkrazy@... Guest guest
I've never been able to find gallon jars for a good price and they're hard to come by at all, in my experience. I've had luck with 1/2 gallon ones but I think I had to order them directly from Ball. I love them though and they were worth the cost. Now is the best time to find them at Menards and that's the best place I've found for them consistently but they do sell out. Guest guest
Try Ace Hardware. They do have a ship-to-site program (you order online and pick up at the store). Lots of options: stopping in, calling to inquire and/or placing a special order, or ordering on the web and getting it delivered to your home or the store works!
