Guest guest
Hi , Are you eating starches, like sweet potatoes, yams, taro, potatoes? I don't know about the crabby part, but I find I feel much better without dryness in eyes/mouth and more energy getting those starchy carbs. Guest guest
I do not know very much about this. One time when I was going off Mountain Dew I had went a few days off it and my muscles started hurting badly. The first drink of Mountain Dew and the pain went away. Could it be our bodies get addicted to what ever we eat and drink? I am now off MD for a long time. Maybe your body has not found something to replace what you quit eating. Maybe a natural path could give you some good ideas on what to do. Don OT: Craaaaaaabby!! I have been GF and dairy-free for about 3-4 weeks now and have been so crabby and impatient! Anyone else experience this and will it get better? Is it just coincidence?
Guest guest
I think the transition to GF and Dairy free at the same time is in itself a mental challenge; lots of upheaval there and having to constantly be creative. Better to not get too legalistic about any of it... but I am feeling in line with the starchy carbs comment by Mark. Yep, I need some too for many reasons, but also if I start getting cravings I note it is because my sugar and other starchy carbs was creeping up too high. I would say watch the sugar specifically (use stevia and erythritol, but keep small amounts of honey etc. if you want it), make sure you're going to bed by 10pm. Check out Mark's Daily Apple blog and the facebook group or the website for Heal Thyself. I turned to coconut when I went dairy free. Enjoying coconut helps me with mood, in the sense that we are supposed to enjoy our food. Nothing makes me more grumpy than not having enough to eat because I can't find something without allergens in it. Getting too legalistic about my food makes me grumpy. For me, if it passes the test that I CAN eat it, then I usually do!! Almond flour has also been a boon. elanaspantry.com and honeyville brand blanched almond flour. OH, and one thing that keeps me on track is my spinach (green smoothie) every morning. Greens gives me the most energy, folate, etc. Another one is cashew butter - make this into dips and sauces. A friend of mine who is very restricted diet, recently said she doesn't feel right without her Tulsi tea. I think you just keep focusing on new things you CAN have and add more so you can forget about the old things. Read about things that gently support your liver so you can eliminate rather than recirculate stuff your body is trying to get rid of. I'm trying to stick with my milk thistle seed for this (I am buying seeds in bulk, grind and put into capsules with The Capsule Machine). OH, and water. And maybe magnesium, which another smart mama said she must have to stay in a good mood ( Gillham's CALM). But, most of all, make yourself a big wonderful dessert full of stuff you CAN have and really enjoy that. I can't have yeast. I found that I really missed kombucha, beer, wine. So, I have some fizzy drinks around as my own treat. (Izze, Virgil's Zero, or sparkling water mixed with various flavorings and stevia extract powder.) Guest guest
These are some excellent comments. Again, when I had adrenal fatigue, I found myself yelling alot. And those who know me would probably vouch that I'm not really the yeller type! A huge change in diet like that is stressful. You probably cut out alot of sources of fat with the dairy. I might emphasize that you may need more fat in your diet. Coconut oil and coconut milk would be good choices. Also eggs if you can eat them. Fat on good quality meat, such as grass-fed beef or lamb would help too. Fat can nourish your adrenals and just help you to feel satiated.
