Guest guest
Hi everybody! Sorry it took me so long to update you. Got induced Thurs -- they found room for me around noon or 1pm. Got IV abx started at 2p, needed two bags for full treatment, one bag takes 1/2 hour then you wait four hours to start the next. They started pitocin at 3 or 4p which made me nervous, but started it really slow. We told every single person in a medical-looking uniform that I had a rapid labor with pitocin last time. Well, guess what. We got our abx in, which is most important, but the same thing happened as last time and NO EPIDURAL. Let me add this info here now after the mention of no epidural -- EIGHT POUNDS, ELEVEN OUNCES. They told me that after I got past 4cm and was getting uncomfortable, I would be able to have the epidural. I wasn't horribly uncomfortable at 4cm, but then right after 4-1/2 cm I had one contraction that changed my mind. Told the nurse I wanted the epidural, she said there were two people in front of me it would be about an hour. The very next contraction (two minutes or less later) I told my husband I couldn't take another second, let alone an hour. Was in AGONY and a minute apart before you know it. I was sliding off the edge of panic, yelling and howling (and I am not a loud, vocal person!) when the doc came and checked me next -- 8cm. I could not believe it. Again?????? I said, " Is it too late?? " with more panic and he said, let me see where the anesthesiologist is... left the room, I started howling again and 30 seconds later he came back and I yelled " I have to push! " and all I had left was a " rim " . Here comes Mr. Anesthesiologist -- thanks for nothing, PAL! In between contractions I whimpered pathetically, " I don't WANT natural childbirth! " I was thinking, no way any woman should ever do this without pain relief, this is INSANE. Right as she was crowning she apparently got stuck? Her head was halfway out and the doctor said " I need help! Get somebody in here " and right then I realized I had not heard any heartbeat in about a minute. Well, the monitor is on the abdomen, so once the baby was in the birth canal, you wouldn't hear the heartbeat. But I thought it was a very bad sign and it actually helped me finish my job! I'm not quite sure what the problem was, just that everything turned out fine. Ann Albrecht -- we're calling her Kate. The first couple three days were great, I was thinking this wouldn't be so hard. But today the hormones kicked in and I've been crying alot and am scared about when my husband goes back to work Thursday. I have a little fever which probably isn't helping, from being engorged I guess, that's what the books say. Baby Kate nurses like a CHAMP, I am so happy about that -- after all the feeding problems with , I am so grateful for this advantage. Okay, I gotta go cry some more. (mom to Kate, 5 days old, and , age 3-1/2. Currently has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs)
Guest guest
, Congratulations to everyone!! Kate is such a pretty name. I had to laugh because I planned on an epidural with both of my kids, but never had one! It was always too late. I'm so glad to hear from you!!! We all had a feeling when we didn't hear from you. How is taking all of this? Sandi, 's Mom
Guest guest
Congratulations . So glad that Baby Kate made finally made her grand entrance. I had the same experience with the epidural situation. Wanted it for both kids but by the time the anesthesiologist made it, it was too late. I am sure is going to enjoy being the big sister. Good luck on getting the needed rest and don't forget to take time for yourself. I know this must be a great source of relief to you after all those months of contractions & preterm labor scares. Glad to hear she's nursing well. Hang in there. . .the hormones get better. Don't let that fever get out of control. If you think you're sick, call that OB & have them see you. You're doing great, ! Holler if you need some support. Guest guest
CONGRATULATIONS KELLY!!!! I am so glad things at least went fast for you, since you couldnt get the Epidural. I don't know why people op to give birth without and epidural.....they in my opinion are completely insane. My cousin said she is more of a woman because she had both her kids naturally, I tell her she is just flat out stupid..... ANYWAY!!! Glad to hear you and baby Kate are doing good and that you are both home and healthy. Keep us updated on how she is doing. If you need to talk, know I am always here only a town away! Congrats again, (mom to son Dakota 2 1/2 hypogammaglobulinemia)

Guest guest
Welcome, Baby Kate!! Watch those hormones! They can really get you. I had a decent case of depression after baby #2, who was blessedly a term and healthy baby (#1 was a preemie and sick baby). Go figure. Ask you dh if he could work a couple of half days before he is gone for full-days. That may help you get used to being home alone. Pam mom to 4 Rebekah with CVID, plus?
