Guest guest
I have mountains of goat poop and hay to mulch with. I am not moving it but bring some bags and take it away. Great for strawberries or anything in the garden. Or Get a bale of straw and a tub of some sort--a plastic tote (large) or stock tank depending on how much room you have. Put some flakes of straw in there and soak for a few days until you see a film on the top. You can cover with plastic or glass if you have it to make this go faster. Then just remove and put on garden. You have some nice critters living in the water/straw mixture and teh straw will break down better. Add some pellet manure to the mix to make tea and you are great! Rabbit, goat, sheep, llama, alpaca can all be put on without composting first. > > Hi- > > I just expanded my garden this year and put in strawberries. I need to mulch the berries as well as many of the veggies, and am trying to find some good mulch materials. I have used grass clippings from our yard in the past, but we have a really good crop of dandelions this year, so for now, I don't want to put all those seeds into the garden! > > I was thinking straw or marsh hay (something safe, not treated with pesticides/herbicides) or something along that line, but don't know where to find that this time of year. Any ideas? The garden centers I've called only seem to sell it in the fall. > > I'm in Shoreview, so something over this way would be preferred. > > Thanks for any help you can offer. > > >
