Future Meetings, in 2005: May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14. [All folks interested in Asperger's Syndrome are welcome. But note that this is a group specifically for the parents of children (of whatever age) with Asperger's Syndrome or related disorders. People with Asperger's themselves are encouraged to attend A.G.U.A. Classic, the Adult Gathering, United and Autistic. For more information about the group, contact Ken Brewer (Kbrewer377@...) or Derrick Hall (323/980-8552). AGUA meets on the 3rd week-end of each month from 1 PM to 4 PM, at the home of Heidi Lissauer in West Los Angeles. Call Heidi at (310) 397-3051 for directions. [All parents are welcome to our meetings. Drop-ins are welcome. This is not a members-only group. In fact, there is no membership and no fees. (We are, however, developing a secret handshake and a song.) Note : unfortunately, we can't provide childcare. Please do not bring your children to the meeting (unless it's noted otherwise in our announcements), since it may interfere with the ability of adults to talk to each other. (Adult children and teens are of course welcome.) ] We are friends of the Westside Regional Center (http://www.westsiderc.org/), Jay Nolan Community Services, Inc. (http://www.jaynolan.org/), the Autism Society of America (http://www.autism-society.org/site/PageServer), and of ASC-US (http://maapservices.org/), the national Asperger's Parents Education Network. (ASC-US is merging with MAAP Services, where MAAP stands for More advanced individuals with Autism, Asperger's syndrome, and Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD).) Please join us! Please e-mail me at jdevine@... if you have any questions or comments -- or if you want to be put on our e-mailing list (which mostly involves messages announcing monthly meetings). If you want information put on our web pages, contact me. (please put the word " Asperger " or " AS " in the subject line.) ---------------------------- How to get to our meetings: * The Ann Singer center is between National and Pico, 1/2 block North of the Santa (10) Freeway underpass. * From the Santa Freeway, going EAST, get off at National (almost immediately east of the 405) . Turn left onto National, then turn left at the most confusing intersection in the world (the one with the overhead sign; there's no need to stop), onto National again. At the light, turn left on Motor. Go under the freeway overpass, turn right into Vista del Mar. * From the Santa freeway, going WEST, get off at National. Go straight onto Manning. Turn left onto Motor. Turn Left into Vista del Mar before freeway overpass. * Please enter through Vista del Mar and follow the signs eastward to the Ann Singer Center. Do not turn left or right as you go up the slight hill. JAS is at the far east end of the Vista del Mar campus, up against Edith Avenue. (You can't enter JAS from Edith.) * By popular request, there's now a map on the directions page of our web-site (at http://myweb.lmu.edu/jdevine/AS/directions.html#map).
