Guest guest
My name is Myrna and my better Half is , Has had a sucessful Liver Transplant, just celebrated 3 years this past september ! Unfortunately He still Has Hep B and C, they will not go away so sorry to say. got the Hep C from a bad blood transfusion way back in the late 70's when he was in a major car accident, ! We are still not sure how he contacted Hep B! even though he Has had a liver transplant, He still has to deal with these Issues each and every day ! To Control the Hep B He has a Monthly Infusion with Inferon which helps a lot, to control His Hep C, He is under the care of a Pain Management doctor, who subscribes oxycontin, and oxycondone when the Pain gets unbearable ! This comes at a cost, though, Be cause These pain Meds tend to give Conspitation, and he has to take stool softners to offset the Meds! But all in all he is doing well, and He attends Hep C meetings here at the UW twice a month !
Guest guest
Welcome Myrna & !! I'm , my other half has Hep C...bad blood late 70's early 80's here too. He is currently going through Peg/Riba therapy with 4th stage cirr of the liver. It is wonderful to hear of a sucessful transplant. My husband is also on Oxycontin, but usually just uses it at night. They warned against addiction with the meds...and like my husband said...seeya in Rehab doc!! It's much better than the pain.....You;ll enjoy this board, alot of wonderful people with a great perspective on life and education with answers to all the Hep C questions that you can think of. Everyone here is very comforting to eachother and you'll find them to be quite informative. Hope you had a nice Holdiay...and welcome!!! kcmcu <kcmcu@...> wrote: My name is Myrna and my better Half is , Has had a sucessful Liver Transplant, just celebrated 3 years this past september ! Has a Excellent Pain Managment Doctor, Dr Flemming here at the UW, Kev never takes the meds, Unless the pain gets really bad, His bad season is now with the weather, but come spring, and summer he rarely takes them, thanks for the warm welcome, It is nice to know we are not alone ! Guest guest
I agree! For Kev it is the only way to ease the Pain, He also uses a heating Pad, but I am thankful he has the meds, before he got them, he was constantly going to the ER, Now more or less he has his Pain Under control , myrna and Kev Jackie on <redjaxjm@...> wrote: AND they find that VERY FEW ppl actually get addicted to pain med when they are used properly.. yes we might be dependent on our meds to control our pain,, but there is a huge difference between dependency and addiction... and THEY dont have the pain,, WE DO!!!!!
