Guest guest
Here's a great chance for all our new members to finally meet the farmers, meet the activists and meet the loyal foodists who have kept the faith through thick and thin. A chance for all of us to brush off the winter blahs and get ready for some fabulous farm food! It is our intense relationship to glorious food that brings us together! You can also get fresh sourdough starter, kombucha cultures, kefir starters and other goodies! This is the true core of the Twin City traditional food movement! It's a tradition! We started April Foods Day (actually on an April 1st one year) about 5-6 years ago partially as a WAPF chapter event and partly as a raw milk extravaganza. We were so innocent then! The basics then and now (because it works) include a small VENDOR MARKET, a short PRESENTATION, a wonderful POT-LUCK meal wherein everyone gets to show off their favorite NT recipe!, and then plenty of free-time to shop, swap stories, and have fun! Feel free to come for a quick hello, for just part of the event, or stay for the whole darn thing. So, here's the details.... APRIL FOODS DAY What: Potluck/Swap & Shop/Community Building Where: Lauderdale City Hall 1891 Walnut Street Lauderdale MN 55113 When: Saturday, April 16th 2-6 pm- Alvin and presenters at 3:30, eat 4:30, shop till you drop, starting at 2 pm! Why: Due to recent events and ongoing struggles it is apparent that our Traditional Foods Community needs to come together to rebuild and re-energize. Alvin Schlangen will be there to educate us about his Freedom Farms Coop, Will Winter will have some Lucky Pig pork, and many other vendors will join us as well. There will also be a short summary of where we stand on the raw milk legislation. Please join us! ALL CHILDREN WELCOME! What to bring: ~Picnic-ware (plates, napkins, utensils, we have dish-washing space to prevent waste) ~Beverages ~NT style dish to share for our POT LUCK MEAL (serving at 4:30) ~Items to swap (example: sourdough starter, kombucha scoby, kefir grains, etc) You can either SELL your food items, or BARTER/SWAP! The more the merrier! ~Bring a couple of bucks for us as we will " pass the hat " to pay the small rental fee. VENDOR SPACE IS FREE, AND ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE AS A VENDOR! *if you'd like to help set up, please arrive at 1pm* a few cleaners afterwards appreciated. Guest guest
I'll be out of town for my uncle's memorial service, but will be there in spirit. Hopefully I can make the next one...
