I took ds (and my two middle kids) to a Valentine's day event at Chuck E. Cheese. I knew he'd likely be overstim'd but he did okay there, as long as he was running around. He zoned on the characters while eating, but he was sort of in la-la land eventually as I had to keep saying his name to keep his attention..it was loud, lots of people, lights, smells, etc. Getting him out to the truck after was quite the show.

Anyway, I knew, when we got home and he immediately took off his shirt, that it was going to be quite a day. He was really tantrum-y, hyper, and sensitive to everything. Since then, his finger movements have been non-stop. I asked him why he does it, and he says his fingers hurt if he doesn't move them. Sigh. He's also shirt-chewing again, and just overall showing signs that he's still overstim'd from yesterday. I told him we didn't have to go anywhere for two days, and he was really excited.

I am taking him to a special movie showing on Saturday -- I really am hoping it's the right thing to do. He wants to see this movie, but he'll be home with my 16 yod that night, when we're out for a Valentine's dinner, and I worry that he'll be acting out again. I want to take him out and about -- is this how it is, or does this get better? I am okay with not taking him out as often as I did my other kids, but there's got to be help that will make it possible to take him on some outings, especially ones he wants to go on but we pay for later?

Thanks for listening to my whine...any ideas are appreciated..

Donna
