I called them today and they said the reason the emulsified was introduced was due to the strong taste of the FCLO. A fiber is added to lessen the taste and help it go down better. I know I have read (maybe there) that some people do better with cod liver oil and some people do better with skate liver oil. I like idea of getting the BLUE ICE which has Butter Oil and FCLO already mixed in the correct proportions (if my math is correct the cost is the same as buying separately but it is just much more convenient and one less spoon to mess each day.) If you want to know what that price is the easiest way is to go to the greenpastures.org website, click on a product to put in your cart, and then enter the quantity of 12 (or anything more if you'd like) Don't press the return button after you enter 12, just click on a different box and the prices for all products will change; if you press return you will leave the page and get frustrated (and it you're like me you won't figure this out for half an hour!) Once you have at least 12 items in the cart the pricing for all items will revert to the bulk price so you will know what the cost per bottle is if you order at least 12 or join in the group order...
