Guest guest
Yes, I agree with you on that Gretechen. If you are a male that goes also, maybe you won't have all the same tests lol, but it is necessary for that exam. jr

Guest guest
Hi Skip, Thank you for the post. If you do tolerate at the 300 mg level, ask your doctor if you could try 350 mg next. No need to go to 400 mg. Good luck, Zavie --------------------------- To all who asked me about test I send this to all to avoid many eamil. I was to Hematology clinic yesterday, My gleevec was increased to 300 from two hundred my counts were plat=39,000 Hem=129,000 and wBC=5,000. In the next week or so my platlets will either go up or down. We will allow the Platlets to go down to 20,000 before they make up their minds. They would love to get me to the 400m mark. So again I wait. Now I know how an elevator operator feels. Thanks for your e-mail, I do appreciate your concern. No need to go to 400 mg. Hi Zavie, how do you propose for Skip to take 350mg?? just curious. There is the 400mg that can be split.......and a 100mg.......... I suppose just make another cut?? I will tell you, when I sometimes cut my 400mg in 1/2 on the score line, the exposed end does give a bitter taste...but doable. C.
Guest guest
Hi , There are a couple of ways to do it. Use the 100 mg tablets. They are scored, so you take 3 1/2 tablets. The problem with using the 100 mg tablets is that they are more expensive than the 400 mg tablets. Another way to do it is to alternate taking 400 mg one day and 300 mg the next day. Guest guest
AGain thanks for the email.. well I will wait until I see where the platlets go..right now they are quite low. at 39,000 but I must admit on Gleevec's side I have never in 27 years had a wbc that is constant in the 5,000 range even with the low dosage of gleevec... had another PCR test as well do not know how that is as it has to go to Montreal.. we will see I guess.. like the energizer bunny I keep going and going and going.. Guest guest
So, 350mg is the minimum effective dose? I thought that 300 was. Where can I get a hold of that information? Thanks, B Tracey <traceyincanada@...> wrote:If he takes 300 one day and 400 the next and continues this alternating pattern, it's considered to be a dose of 350mg which I believe is now considered to be the minimum effective dose. Guest guest
Hi Zavie, I find it interesting that you say that the 100 mg tab of Gleevec is more expensive that the 400 mg. Is that only in Canada? The reason I ask is that my insurance would not allow me to get the 400 mg. I would have to jump through alot of red tape hoops to get it. Interesting but true. So, I'm still taking four 100 mgs. Since we are going to be on this stuff for a lifetime, or until the lifetime cap payout runs out, I would think it would be wiser to get on the cheaper one. Any thoughts? Lynn (Snickersunny) > >If you do tolerate at the 300 mg level, ask your doctor if you could try > 350 > >mg next. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I can only speak for Canada and my pharmacy. 30 tabs @ 400 mg cost $3753 cdn, 120 tabs @ 100 mg cost $3861 cdn. Since the government pays for my medication, the druggist is obligated to dispense the cheaper one. Guest guest
Hi , 300mg used to be the minimum effective dose but I believe in the last teleconference that the L & L Society put on, Dr. Mauro said they now believe that 350mg is the minimum effective dose. I'll try to find something concrete for you. Take care, Tracey --- In , jennifer bosse <jenniferabosse@y...> wrote: > So, 350mg is the minimum effective dose? I thought that 300 was. Guest guest
Hi Pat: Thanks. I had the IgE level drawn today. I had skin testing about 4 yrs ago and have been on shots. They tell me Xolaire is $1,000 a shot. I'll see how much insurance covers. Carol Pat wrote: an IgE level. Also RAST testing or allergy skin testing is a must. Guest guest
$1000.00 a shot??? Wow, thats double the price most of us are paying. Be sure you have a good Specialty Pharmacy. Curascript is one of the best! They won't charge that much. Doug Group founder co/moderator/owner
Guest guest
Xolair is between $450 & $550 a shot, not $1,000. --------------------------------- Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Guest guest
That's interesting; I've not heard of anyone having stool and urine tests to determine what pre and pro biotics are needed. Can other people, perhaps parents, comment? H. CD dx 2002 -----Original Message----- From: Cara <cara@...> Sent: Thu, Feb 25, 2010 8:59 am Subject: RE: [ ] Fw: You're invited... From: Cara [mailto:caradeurioste] Sent: Thursday, February 25, 2010 8:58 AM ' ' Subject: RE: [ ] Fw: You're invited... I second ’s message. When our daughter was diagnosed with Celiac we took her to Dr. and after spending almost $1,200 found they could not help us. They were just not set up to handle a complicated case of Celiac. We found them to be good generalists but not able to apply specific solutions to Shana. We ended up seeing a Dr. Pierce (also a Chiropractic) but much more familiar with Celiac and a Dr. Song (MD w/holistic practice). Our Pediatric GI spoke with them and thought they were nuts. They are taking a medical approach but do not have the infracture or expertise to support it. Between Dr. Pierce and Dr. Song (and our Pediatric GI) we figured out Shana’s supplements along with regular blood work to determine how she was absorbing her nutrients along with stool and urine tests to determine what pre and pro biotics were needed. She is not thriving. In the end we found Dr. to be a waste of time and money.
