Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me soliciting prayers for myself! I'm 29

weeks pregnant tomorrow and had a lot of contractions today. I'm a little

effaced but not dilating at all, which is wonderful news. A non-stress test

didn't pick up any contractions so we're hoping they were nothing. I'm

resting for two days and then resuming a take-it-as-easy-as-possible

schedule. Easier said than done with a wild 3-1/2 year old, right?

Anyway, I'm terrified of having another preemie, for all the regular reasons

plus the PID angle. A great deal of serious stuff in 's PID was

transient and therefore likely due to her prematurity. I wanted this child to

have the head-start of being full term, you know? So I'm pounding water like

crazy and praying for the best.

I'll update soon and I hope all the pumpkins are doing well!

(mom to , age 3. Currently has polysaccharide antibody def,

previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs)

Hi ,

I will be praying for you, the baby and for your family as well. I'm

hoping feels calm during this time, so you can rest. I hope your fears

are eased as well, and that you have a sense of peace. God is with you and

we are too :)

Been there, done it! I've have 3 pregnancies with wild contractions as

early as 16 weeks. Water is a magic medicine. Put your feet up, babe. You

may hear on Monday that you are on bedrest or modified bedrest for the

duration. Start thinking about child care of sorts for . Our first

was a premie, and after that, no OB would let me work once the contractions

started. On the positive side, none of the three crazy pregnancies involved

a premature delivery. Just LOTS AND LOTS of contractions. They came at

37,38, and 37 weeks, respectively.

I'll add you to my prayers this weekend. Keep me posted.

Of *course* I don't mind sending up some prayers on your behalf...

consider it done (and will continue to be done as long as necessary!).

I am sure this is frustrating and scary, and I'm sorry that you're

having to face the possibility of having another child with health

challenges secondary to prematurity. I hope that this proves to be a

false alarm. You seem to be doing what you need to do to take care of

both you and the baby (and , too!), with the strict bedrest for a

while. I know the prospect of being able to pull that off with a 3 y/o

around must be daunting, but just keep remembering that it's a lot

easier to entertain and nurture if you're home, lying in bed, than

if you were running back and forth to the hospital, to visit a baby in

the NICU. I am sure that no matter the outcome here, you will continue

to move through life with the same dedication and grace and love that

you have given to along the way, and not just with respect to her

health issues. I know it hasn't come easily, but you have managed to

create a great quality of life for a little girl who was very sick for a

while, and now look at the strides she's made, owing to your efforts,

protection, self-education, and love. I am praying that you don't need

to find all of that out first-hand by going through it with another

baby, but if you do, know that we'll be with you, and that I believe in

the power of a mother's love and protection. I'm wishing you a speedy

stabilization of the current problems, and praying for another 10 weeks

of pregnancy... and uneventful ones, at that!

Just a quick side note -- you mentioned the fluids and bedrest... I was

wondering if you'd also discussed with your docs the use of Terbutaline

(Brethine) to slow/stop the contractions. It makes people feel pretty

icky (especially at first), but may be worth asking about, because it

can prove *very* helpful in gaining at least a few extra weeks of

development in utero. Just a thought... I hope even that is not

required, though!

Take care of yourself, and please keep us posted!

I had contractions with my son from 3 months on... was put on strict bedrest

and no work at 4 months. went into preterm labor twice and had to have

injections in the hospital to get the contractions to stop. It is a very

scary time being pregnant and having problems, and having other people to

worry about as well as yourself and your unborn child. Luckily everything

stopped with mine enough that I delivered my son two days after the due date.

You are in my heart and my prayers and thoughts, wishing you NOTHING but the

best and hopes that you will be able to stop the contractions and keep that

baby growing as long as possible in-utero. Please feel free to email me any

time you wish just to talk or to vent even. I am a great listener. I know it

has to be hard with running around, but like someone else said, maybe

giving her little tasks to do that would help you and she would feel great

for helping mom and she may also think of it as a game, would be the way to

go. You would get the housework done, keep busy, and in your eye-line,

and spend time with her while relaxing and keeping an eye on your unborn

child. May work! never know! Just make sure you reward her with something

even if it is little and insignificant to you she will really feel like a

bigger person for helping and being rewarded for being so good.

Keep your chin up and listen to the doctor. Amazingly enough they do know

what they are talking about sometimes!! haha

My thoughts andprayers are with you.

Thoughts and prayers are with all the children in this group as well!

Wishes of love and health
