Guest guest
Hi Klara, I don't have it with me at the moment, but it's by Michio Kushi. I have to take it kind of slow because being vegan for awhile there are many things I use that I refer to as staples that are not recommended in MB. And I really like using spices, especially hot ones. I have to re-structure my thought process and understanding about all of this. But, it's very interesting, nonetheless. And I really like learning more. Going vegan was a whole new world to me, so here's another adventure. Thank you for the welcome. Pam Pam, you sound like the perfect candidate for a mb lifestyle - which book did you buy? I am very interested in what I'm reading and want to learn more. Guest guest
Hi Klara, I actually laughed out loud at your question. When I went vegan I had a small support group that ended up dis-banding and then I was on my own. It has taken over four years for people at work to grab hold of what I was doing, thanks to someone reading The China Study. So, they may be open to hearing about macrobiotics. I wanted to get a grasp on it before I said anything -- but I am lugging my book around, if anyone notices. I've been trying to see if there are any groups where I live (Spokane, WA), but I haven't located anything. But, I have only been on this venture for a couple of weeks. You described our learning and understanding of Macro Biotics very well. As in all areas, it is a journey. When I decided to go vegan (to get off of blood pressure medicine) it ultimately was God who directed my path. I went cold turkey and had absolutely no problems or cravings. Now with macrobiotics -- articles, "groups", books are just falling into my lap. What fun!!!! Your e-mail has made me even more excited about learning more. Thank you again, Klara. Pam Pam,In Judaism we have a very interesting outlook - when we have a question, we go to a Rabbi - BUT we choose our rabbi according to the kind of interpretation we expect he will have - so in effect we can almost choose our answers.Ditto in macrobiotics. There are soooooooooooooooooo many different interpretations and alot depends on whom you're listening/learning from.Michio is kind of like the granddaddy in the States, but alot of the teachers have departed in some ways from his stricter interpretations. If you are not suffering from any serious disease, then going slowly is exactly right - and you can find people who are wider and highly approve of spicesHere's one: http://macrobiotic. about.com/ b/2009/10/ 07/baked- fish-with- north-african- spiced-breadcrum bs.htmanother thing is that people themselves change - so at one point spices may be exactly what you need, but at another point, they may not. It's a lifelong learning experience, and hopefully you will always enjoy the changes.Klara> > > From: Reggie A <purpleveg (DOT) com>> Subject: new member pam> > Date: Monday, October 12, 2009, 12:13 AM> > > > > Pam · 52 · Female > Spokane, Washington> grammypammy1956 > I have been vegan for 4+ years and just purchased a book on macrobiotics. Guest guest
KlaraOh, I want to clarify that I didn't take your question as silly when I said I laughed out loud. -- I really, really understand how great it is to have someone to learn with and have support. I think it hit me like: Nope, I'm hitting the trail on my own. But, that's where these are really beneficial. At least I know there are "real" people out there somwhere.Pam From: Pam Yates <grammypammy1956>Subject: Fw: Re: new member pamDate: Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 6:01 PM Hi Klara, What a beautiful e-mail.
