Guest guest
The Dairy Council and the National Pork Board had a hissy fit when the media finally did an article about what's happening to our national food supply. they are now attacking Couric and SOMEHOW attaching this coverage to the " liberal " media. As if dirty, druggy meat is an All-American thing to be embraced by all people who love our country, as opposed to those evil-doers who want clean meat! Twisted! This report was from back in February.... Will Pork Board vet: Couric didn't get it right (audio) By Dairy Herd staff | 2/10/2010 CBS Evening News anchor Couric, in an investigative report Tuesday night on antibiotic-resistant bacteria, apparently glossed over some of the facts. That becomes apparent when listening to Liz Wagstrom, veterinarian and assistant vice president of science and technology for the National Pork Board, who was interviewed Wednesday by AgriTalk. Couric's report focused largely on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA. Yet, Wagstrom points out, it appears that MRSA is not related to antibiotic use in animals, " and indeed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the European Food Safety Authority have said that MRSA in food or in relation to animals is really very unlikely. " " So, I think that this is very much an overreaction. She obviously did not understand that farmers use antibiotics carefully, " Wagstrom adds. Hear the entire AgriTalk interview with Wagstrom.
