Guest guest
Thank you for the introduction! I can't imagine where to begin with questions! I don't know much about macrobiotics but I will sum up what I do know.It is a focus on nonprocessed whole food concentrating on vegetables and grains. There is a higher use of sea vegetables than most diets. There is an avoidance of nightshade vegetables and I think possibly some legumes. I am not sure about that one. I know that miso plays a roll especially in soup, and I think recommended daily? And chewing. Thoroughly and then some CHEW! Oh, yes and the pickles and plums. I haven't tried either of them. A friend recently told me when I tried to explain to her what I knew about macrobiotics is that it sounded like a vegetarian Chinese person's diet! Last thing, it is a way of life to focus on peaceful living and kindness, not a diet per se. All of that being said, I don't know where to begin! I also need to stay gluten-free and have read that many miso products do have gluten.I have been vegetarian for many, many years and do eat vegan primarily. I really look forward to and anticipate conversations that I can observe and learn from, thank you all for this group!KymberleeOn Tue, May 11, 2010 at 2:20 AM, <-owner > wrote: boscos_mom2001 Kymberlee · Female Menlo Park, CA boscos_mom2001 May 10, 2010 I am a longtime vegetarian and on and off vegan. Guest guest
who said miso has gluten? the barley miso will but I'm pretty certain you should be ok with the rest. My daughter is on a gluten free diet and I give her miso. I buy South River Miso. Miso master states theirs are gluten free except for, obviously, barley. Goldmine also states the same for the South River Miso ones. Tell your friend it's not Chinese but Japanese based. But really macrobiotics is about locally grown, close to the earth, not destroying the planet stuff. It's about simplicity and listening to your body, balance. > > > > > > > > > boscos_mom2001 > > > > Kymberlee · Female > > Menlo Park, CA > > boscos_mom2001 May 10, 2010 > > I am a longtime vegetarian and on and off vegan.
