Guest guest
I joined the TradFoods Minnesota group about three weeks ago, so I'm a bit overdue in introducing myself. I've read the recent article (smear job) that the Strib ran about Will Winter, and the supportive replies that people posted on this forum. As I reflected on what people said about their experiences with Will and his veterinary practice, I remembered that when I lived in Uptown in the late 1980's I bought my then 12 year old son a puppy, which we took to the Uptown Vet Clinic. I even still have the folder we were given with the $26 bill for our first office visit (with vaccinations) and Will's recommendations for feeding our new puppy a homemade, raw diet of 20% protein, 20% fat or oil, and 60% carbohydrates (cooked grains and veggies). Some members of our household were very squeamish about the raw meat part, so I don't think we followed the recommendations totally. We did, however, follow them substantially enough to end up with a healthy dog with a coat so shiny she glistened. She was also very smart, and drew many comments about her intelligence. I attribute her intelligence, shiny coat, and excellent health to the great nutritional start she got, based on Will's advice. We moved from Uptown shortly after and changed to a vet closer to our new location. Our beloved black lab lived to be 14 ½ years old. The reason I joined the Tradfoods MN group is that several months ago I discovered that I have a tooth infection; I do not particularly like either of the treatment options of root canal or extraction, so I have been looking for a natural alternative. I am convinced that my body should be able to heal this if I do the right things. Through online research I found the book Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel, through which I became acquainted with the work of Weston Price. I have completely removed sugar and all other sweeteners from my diet, and started working with a homeopath (at the suggestion of my dentist, of all people!). I've switched to raw milk cheese and organic butter, and would like to find a source of raw milk, as I understand that calcium from pasteurized milk is not absorbed well. I have not actively pursued trying to find a source of raw milk because of the political and regulatory climate; I did not want to make anyone uncomfortable. However, this week I saw that another new member asked about sources, so I would like to do the same. If anyone has a source they would not mind sharing, please email me at gringa@.... Also, if anyone has any experience with curing an infected tooth with alternative remedies, I'd love to hear how you did it. My infection is stable--so far the things I am doing are holding it in check and it has almost gone away several times, but not completely. Kind regards, Jo
