And this morning was an issue, where as when he was off them the tantrums were only when involved in activity during the days and having to switch modes (like school). IS this normal? Sharon My son was on Adderall a few years ago. That was the medicine for him, and I emphasis for HIM, that was a problem. Everyone is different and the way that meds affect everyone is different. Anyway, for my son, we noticed that he got meaner on them too. We also noticed this being worse when they wore off. My friend was trying her son on Adderall at the same time and had the same problem. Everyone is different and so I know that no same med works alike and we tried another one and another one and on and on and had to have trial and error. We finally settled on a med that worked for him, however, Adderall was not one that worked for my son. If you have concerns about your son having problems or worse problems on the meds, try checking into the doseage, or if it is brand or generic, that might be a problem, one might work, and other not work, and you could always check with a nurse or doctor, or pharmacist. You could always change medicines. I have never heard of "weaning " off of stimulants. Stimulants such as Ritalin, Adderall and so forth all work quickly and also wear off just as fast in the system. They do NOT stay in the system longer than the period that they work for and so weaning them off of that kind of medicine is not a necessary thing. However, the non-stimulant medicine called Strattera , that works differenty and you have to raise and lower the doses slowly and that does stay in the system over or about 24 hours. Anyway, ask your doctor if you have concerns Good luck hugs in IL
