Yes, yes, yes, Rabecca! You DO know my daughter!!! :) I keep forgetting

that you've experienced it already in your house....

Re: " quirky kids " -- Polar Express kid...

Maralee,

It is soooo hard when kiddos have multiple dx's because one

disability can mask the symptoms of another... For instance, a little

girl who lives behind us has Cerebal Palsey. She also is autistic.

Now, for her, even if there hadn't been trauma at birth causing the

CP, she still would have been autistic. Yet, many of her autistic

traits are masked by her CP... ~wondering if I am making any sense

here~

Beth has BP, social anxiety, and Aspergers. With BP and social

anxiety, her Aspie traits may be " overidden " by her intense emotions

and anxieties. We can't say whether she would have had " typical

aspergers " if she didn't have these other comorbs, but chances are,

her anxiety and emotions tend to shorten her focus on any given

subject/interest or it morphs it into something else... Beth does

show the " nerdy characteristics " (in her own way), but hers focus

around her anxieties. She obsesses about relationships, what others

may be thinking, what she may or may not get to do, etc. She tries so

hard to delve so deeply into these things that it can drive her and

those around her a bit nuts at times, even though they are areas

where Aspies do not have much skill/ability. I would say that if she

didn't have the other two issues to deal with, she would probably be

more " typically nerdy " , but since she has the fears/emotions, her

obsessions tend to go another direction! Becky's did!!!

~hugs~
