Guest guest
Hi everyone! Hey, just found out that I'm pregnant which is a wee bit of a surprise because we decided we were so done and also was just diagnosed on the spectrum and voila! I'm an older mom who normally is nervous about my age but also, I wondered if anyone had any tests to determine if your child was autistic. is on the very high end of the spectrum and I would so love another just like him to be honest, but I wondered if any of you worried when getting pregnant again and if there were any tests you can have done. 's neurologist mentioned he could have Fragile X Syndrome ... but I read that was mental retardation and that's so not him. His IQ is higher than mine. Any comments/suggestions? Guest guest
Kathy, My son has a high IQ and was tested for Fragile X anyway, so I am not sure if MR always has to accompany it. A good genetics counselor can tell you what you can/should test for. Guest guest
A friend of mine has 2 sons who have fragile X. I believe neither are MR, but both are autistic.
