Guest guest
Paddle means to spank with an object other than a hand... not something I think is appropriate in our schools, especially for special needs kiddos!!! Both my kids teachers were under instruction, in writing, that my children were not to be hit. Under any circumstance. And it does no good whatsoever, IMO, to paddle an autistic kid. Makes things worse, is what it does, because it adds another sensory level to an already stressful situation, and generally the kid doesn't know why they're being paddled to begin with. I'm amazed that there are still schools in this country that do this at all! Especially in the Special Ed. classroom! If I were you, I'd draft a letter immediately (with a copy for your files) and take it to the school myself, barring them from striking your child for any reason. If they ignore the letter, sue 'em for child abuse. Hey, if you did it in your home Child Protective Services would be down on you like a duck on a Junebug! You don't have to let them get by with this. Oh, and no you aren't wrong. Guest guest
is mainstreamed and in regular kindergarden class. He started the year with a full time aide, but the aide has been reduced to part time and their plans are to take the aide completely before the end of the school year. I feel bullied. They obviously don't understand his disability.... Re: am i wrong?
