Guest guest
Kim - so glad to hear that it went well. Did you have a good nurse? Did she know the protocol to follow and do vitals as often as she should? Guest guest
Ursula, I am not sure who this message is directed to, but if not me, I would like to jump in. How often should vitals be taken when infusions are done at home. My nurse is great with and has established quite a friendship with him, but she doesn't take vitals very often. I have noticed less and less every time. I am not sure she even took his blood pressure at all last time. At Children's, it seemed liked they did it every 15 min at the beginning and then maybe every half hour - something like that. Guest guest
The nurse (home and hospital) takes them every 15 minutes for one hour, then every 30 minutes for one hour and then every hour for the last 2. Usual infusion runs 4 to 5 hrs. Vitals include heart rate, respirations, blood pressure, temperature and asking her if she's in any pain (if she's not asleep from the pre-meds). Guest guest
Belinda - I'm sorry to hear she had a bad time of it. I saw the previous message but have been in clinicals and at the NNICU all week. Hopefully the summer months will be good to her and maybe her response next fall will be stronger to the challenge. -- Ursula Holleman Macey's mom (6 yr. old with CVID, asthma, sinus disease, GERD, kidney reflux, Sensory Integration Disorder, Diabetes Insipidus) http://home.att.net/~maceyh/ PedPI D ------------------------------------------------ Get the award winning ISP, AT & T WorldNet Service http://download.att.net/webtag
