Guest guest
, I am so sorry to hear this. It seems unfair given the reasons why you were taking time off. And while the first conversation I suppose could be considered inappropriate if someone wanted to, how could the second one be inappropriate. It is a question of relavance to the children you care for! I am one of those who is a firm believer in things happening for a reason, have faith and the reason will present itself! In the meantime it sounds like you have a good case for unemployment. He informed me that they were terminating my employment immediately due to "unreliability to work the hours I was scheduled" (8-1 daily - occasionally I would have to take Sara or to an appointment during that time if they could not schedule it at a time after I was off work but I always made up the hours.) He also told me that he had problems with my "boundary issues with the public" citing the time that I talked to the director of special needs while she was at the site about my worries that was not in school and they had not yet found him a teacher and a time last week when I was in a discussion with a local detective about his perception that our county has the highest percentage of sex offenders in the state per capita. I voluntarily went to part time in March 03 to help the site's budget and enable them to keep helping the children. I have repeatedly asked for more hours but was told that the budget still didn't support it. It didn't occur to me this morning but did to my mom - when I told her what happened - that perhaps they were terminating me due to the workman's comp claim for my broken leg. I am still undergoing physical therapy on my leg. I don't know that is the case but will be even more angry if it is. That's illegal!I am already looking for another job. I will not be unemployed for very long. I am so mad ... I haven't been fired from any job since I was 16!Sorry to vent. I'm ticked! I AM a good employee - I am loyal - I am a hardworker. Guest guest
Hi , I am sorry to hear that you were fired from your job, and it sure does not seem right if it is for the reasons that you mentioned. I hope you find a new job soon, and one you like better with more hours and benefits for you. I know it is so hard when others don't seem to see the effort we are putting into things, and they can only point out the negative. There is a LOT of that going on in this stupid world! I mean did the guy ever tell you what he did see in you that was a benefit to the people bringing their kids there, as well as to the kids themselves? Nope, they never do notice that! Anyway, we notice it, and are here to support you, and look forward to a good report from you soon. Love, Carolyn I think I should have just stayed in bed this morning.... Guest guest
You should boogie on down to the unemployment office and file a claim for wrongful termination! It will call for a hearing in front of a hearing officer, and generally employers don't even show up for these so cases are generally decided in favor of employees. And I think they may have to pay you for the time you missed because they wrongfully fired you. I had to do this once, back when I was still working. I won, too, and eventually management changed where I worked and they asked me back! However I had been trying to get a hold of this particular person for days and had not gotten a call back. I thought it best to " seize the day " when she was there rather than to risk another non-call-back. I am sure that he felt that the second conversation was inappropriate even with the relavance to the kids that we served since I am " Just the secretary " In general I am not considered " direct client care " even though I do have contact with the clients on a pretty much daily basis. He's only been site manager since April 2004. He seems to have fairly rigid expectations and in his eyes - I am not meeting them. I hope that this is the beginning of something wonderful. I pray so. In the meantime - I applied for unemployment over the internet this morning. Hopefully I will be able to get it and be able to take the time to find a really good next job - not just grab at the first thing that comes along no matter how ill-fitted I am for it or it for me. I am waiting to hear from my attorney to see if the reasons that he gave for terminating me can be used to deny me unemployment. Thanks for thinking of me. Thank you for the kind words. I mean did the guy ever tell you what he did see in >you that was a benefit to the people bringing their kids >there, as well as to the kids themselves? No he has never mentioned what he thought I did right about my job. The funny thing is that before he became site manager - he used to work for the site as an In Home worker. I had always liked the man - he seemed to have a good rapport with this clients and always seemed to be nice. I didn't realize how much different he was than my perceptions until he took the site manager job. After that happened - nothing I seemed to do was good enough. I couldn't do 40 hours of work in 25 and for some dumb reason I thought that if he knew how many stressors we were going through with my daughter's high risk pregnancy and 's problems that he would be more understanding when I needed to take time off to take them to appointments - I mean I DID make the time up. The only thing I learned was that he was very rigid in his expectations of me and that there was not much room for compromise. Nope, they never >do notice that!
