Guest guest Posted October 3, 2004 Report Share Posted October 3, 2004 Actually the program was more than just making a big deal about two aspies getting married. 60 minutes did a program on these two a few years back. they met and fell in love. Alot of people did not think they would make it. So this is a follow up to show how they were doing and their courage and strength. It was a pretty big deal. Guest guest Posted October 4, 2004 Report Share Posted October 4, 2004 Oh, I didn't know this was a follow up show. She was a savant, don't know how to spell it. She could write a write a piece of complicated music that she had in her head, starting from the last note and go to the first note. It was amazing! When she was a child she said she used to cry when the piano was out of tune. He said that when he saw the movie, "Rainman" with Hoffman that it changed his life. Because he could do the same mathematical problem they did on the show and come up with the right answer, he was a mathematical genius all his life just like Rainman was. And he too could not relate to people socially, so he had a lot of birds, and he let the fly around free in his apartment. Well then he met his future life at a support group for people like he was, the savant lady, and they fell in love and got married. I thought it was interesting when he said he liked sex, but it was when he wasn't surprised by a sudden touch, something like that. Anyway the marriage only lasted about 5 years and they got divorced, but they were both very lonely without the other, and so got back together and remarried. Then they moved to an out of the way place to a home on the desert someplace, probably California, and had a lot of birds, only they had a pen for them instead of letting them fly freely all over their house, and she had given up writing music. It showed him going around and speaking to college students, explaining how he had felt all his life. I thought that was good. Well have to run, , Marty, and I are going to church now.
