So he will be without an education at all for at least that long. What are the options here?>> Start with the principal of the high school and mention that these actions violate several laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. Go to the district superintendent and the county and state departments of education. Go to the District Attorney's office and the local news media as well. Make this as public as you can. An attorney that specializes in education law would be helpful too. ,RN lemobrn@...
Guest guest
Talk to someone at the SD office, not the schools. Someone there can set up an home-study program or get your brother re-instated at old school until the transfer is done. Start w/ special edcation programmer/coordinator...if they can't help talk to the Special Education Director...if they can't help talk to the SD supervisor. Guest guest
Hi all, My brother will be attending his new school tomorrow. HOORAY! The IEP meeting was today.(I had thought it wasn't until Friday) It was almost nice to see people other than myself or my step-mom squirm. Just a few key words and references to laws and got what he needed. They were actually scared. even through one guy out of the room! is usually a very complacent person, but she had her mother tiger claws ready this time. I helped her last night to formulate a plan and gave her the information and she was able to follow through and have a positive outcome. Knowledge really is power. Thank you to all who responded with info and support. , and I all appreciate it. Ginnene
Guest guest
Sorry, I am behind on posts here, but boy am I glad that you guys got that all straightened out!!! There is no reason for something like that to happen in such a way as to cause that much unnecessary turmoil and stress. Transitions need to be well planned and ALL sides need to be informed and prepared... and somewhat in agreement as to how it is going to be done!!! Sorry you had to go through that... ~hugs~ Rabecca
