Guest guest
I know some people who have already begun to contact representatives in their districts. I personally have been composing in my head what I will say and the points I want to make and plan to begin my calls Monday. I am very nervous about making the calls because I do not know what to expect. On one hand, one party calls themselves the Farmers Labor party, so can I assume they will listen because this issue involves the abuse of small farmers? Yet, many of the peoples in this party like heavy regulation. Then the other end has the republicans who are supposed to stand for freedom and liberty, yet frequently side with big business at the expense of the people. So I just do not know what to expect and think this will be interesting. Does anyone have any input about what to expect, or perhaps how to approach the different offices? I also intend to call organic valley. The timing of their decision against their farmers has me thinking that it also perhaps came about by leverage from the healthy people goal to eliminate raw dairy. (And as Becca pointed out, it is time to renew our consumer to farm membership, and at this point, $50 is a steal for legal council in this hostile climate.) The original point of this post (before I began to ramble with my thougts) is to share a handy tool I use frequently for a variety of issues. The tool is on a web page for the home school legal defense group, but you do not need to be a member to use this tool and it allows you easy access to the list of your elected officials easily, and links you to email templates to send it as well as other contact information for your specific district. The issue you are contacting your officials for do not need to have anything to do with home schooling, even though it is setup on a home schooling defense page. (I have to laugh because I feel like I need a law membership for everything I want to do anymore!) Here is the web address- http://capwiz.com/hslda/home/ You just enter your zip code and hit go and it will bring up the list for you. If you live in a split district like I do, you will also need the last 4 digits of your 9 digit zip. Hope this helps. Carol
