Guest guest
Our child (almost 6) has been had a 24 hour EEG that showed abnormal brainvave activity. Doctors have recommended the prescription drug TRILEPTAL (oxcarbazepine). I'd be grateful for inputs from families who have used this medication. Thanks much! Guest guest
hi Judy... we just started that medication for our 15 year old (as, bipolar, social anxiety). She spent a few days in a hospital, dealing with anger and depression issues.....and the dr removed one med and add this new one. It's been almost two weeks and we can see quite an improvement in mood...We've never had the EEG done. good luck! BTW, she's on 600 mg in the morning and 600 mg at night..... Guest guest
My son Austin (age 4 almost 5) took Trileptal for about half a year. It worked well at first. But we kept having to increase the dosage until it got to a dangerous level. My son metabolizes medicines a lot fast than a normal child and therefore things stop working fast. He is now on Prozac and Risperdal. The Risperdal seems to be the key worker in his med schedule and it works just like Trileptol. If you find that it stops working for your son, mention this one to his doctor. I know many kids that are taking it with wonderful results. Good luck!
