Guest guest
Sandi: Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The website address is : www.handwritingforkids.com You will find a lot of useful information on here. The OT is separate from the teacher. My son was getting OT once a week for a half hour. When I pulled him last year, I started to do OT with him daily. I am not sure if has any sensory issues. ( fearful of loud noises, uncomfortable with " tags " on the back of shirts) those are just a couple of examples, in any event sensory has a big bearing on fine motor skills. I find it helpful for to play with games such as : Don't break the ice, Jenga, playing with playdough and putting little toys or such inside the playdough so can find the piece, anything that really utilizes finger movement. If you think does have a sensory issue, make sure you bring it to the attention of the occupational therapist. You would also want to make sure the sensory is addressed in the IEP. Did you know that you may have anyone who is close to be part of the IEP meeting? If you have a nurse come into your home? A family member, who may spend time with him. Take care (Mom to 9yr old Hyper IgE Syndrome, asthma. allergies. sinusitis)
