Guest guest
Oh, Laurel, This sounds so familiar. I began macrobiotics in January. In late February or March, I began having pain. They ran all kinds of tests. All were negative. All they could think of was gallbladder but all those tests were also negative. They did one test where you had to be in the middle of the pain for them to do it. I was in agony. The test was negative. Ginger compresses helped a little but no one could tell me what was going on and I didn't know what to try. I finally was having attacks so bad I was ready to hand them the knife and without anesthesia let them cut anything out they could think of. They decided to remove the gallbladder. What they found was it was full of sand like particles. The bile duct from the liver was having spasms for some unknown reason, and continues to do so today. If this sand was in the duct when it spasmed, it was agony for me. Now, when it spasms, I have a bearable sharp pain, until it relaxes. I was very new to macrobiotics at the time. If I knew then what I know now, I would see that was a natural cleansing my body was doing and I may have tried a liver gallbladder flush first before going through the surgery. If I had seen it as a natural cleansing and knew there was no infection or serious problem, I might have tried to ride out the pain for a bit longer to see if the liver would clear itself. A friend of mine had classic gallbladder symptoms about 18 months after beginning macrobiotics and she chose to do the flush. It dislodged several stones, she avoided surgery and then felt fine. My problem was that the symptoms were not classic. One of the tests was that one day I had to eat stuff like grilled cheese sandwiches to stimulate an attack. I felt fine all day. According to the surgeon, the sand was constantly moving through the duct, it was only during a spasm that I had symptoms. So there were no blockages or sizeable stones that could be seen on x-rays, etc. (I still have a small container of the black sand around here somewhere.) I would not say this is your problem, but you may want to consider it. Jo-Ann > > Hi, > > > > I need some good macro advice.?
