Guest guest
Hi , Very interesting about needing more oils for the nervous system when people are in stress. And yes, lack of oil had prevented from absorbing nutrients, which eventually helped to create the osteoporosis. He was told that he had the bones of an 86 year old man and that he was as malnourished as a person from a third-world country. No wonder they decided to increase their oil intake..... Vitamin D absorption, a component of building bones, is also dependent on oil. Of course, they are recommending other things besides more oil, such as weight-bearing exercise, more protein, & vitamin k. Their experience is a good reminder to everyone not to take our health for granted. Dottie [sPAM]Re: Re: and Sanae's book "Seasonal Vegan Macrobiotic Cuisine" oils can help to protect the body and allow some herbs and nutrientsto be absorbed better but a ton is not needed. I do find that peoplewho are stressed out and don't eat animal foods need more fat and oilin their diet for their nervous system to function properly. When wemeditate and rest and are calm the parasympathetic nervious sytem isactive and can activate healing and building mechanisms in the body.I see so many people here in L.A. living in constant stress and thesympathetic nervous system that is a catabolic system (tears the bodydown somewhat) active much more of the time than a human is designedfor. It can cause even the best eaters to absorb less of the goodstuff from their food, weaken the immune system and inhibit gooddigestion. I'm very interested to see what discovered foradded bone health but I suspect he may not have been having enoughoils to assist with better calcium/magnesium absorbtion but that isjust a guess. On 8/24/07, leslieanneashburn <leslieanneashburn > wrote:>>>>>>> Dottie and ,>> and taught a bones class at the conference.
