Guest guest
Hi Lois Rather than hijack Jan's thread I decided to continue your message in a new one as the subject matter is slightly different. Like I say, I used the green peppermint tea successfully to make two good batches of K. It was only as I was reading back through these messages, and then onto the other well known sites, that I found out that it is not advisable to use flavoured teas. I swapped to non-flavoured green tea as I didn't want to risk killing myy scoby(s). I think I read somewhere that somebody's scoby just stopped producing K (she was using a flavoured tea). One of the more experienced responders seemed to think that it was the long-term effect of the flavoured tea that killed it. I'm very new to K so I decided to follow the experts' advice. To be honest there was no peppermint flavour in the final K at all. It was just convenient to use that tea because that was what I had at home at the time! I think perhaps you meant this for Jan, but while we're on the subject of green peppermint tea, I remember reading that someone who had been with the group from the beginning brewed nothing but Earl Grey, and quite successfully. A nicely blended Earl Grey is one of my absolute favorite cups of tea, but for some reason, I can't imagine the kombucha. I'm looking forward to trying it, so am doubly encouraged by your success with another highly flavored tea. Cheers, Lois
