I'm sorry about that ! It goes to show thought that all of our kiddos respond differently....We only see a neurologist and she has on .5 mg of Risperadol once per day..... has been on it 6 months now, and is not the same child...he is calm, or easier to calm...much less panic, much more impulse control...now he is on a tiny dose --- so the higher the dose we'll see..for now I'm NOT budging ;) He is doing awesome...NO absolutely NO self injury anymore....that's benn gone probably a full 3 1/2 months now.

I say do what works for your kid :)

Glad yours is doing better under a Neuro....I prefer a neuro...less psychiatric BS.....sorry Pat K. LOL, LOL......you are a good phychologist...it's the MD's that are a bit much :0) OK, I'll stop talking now ;)

My son was on Albilify and after only 1 week he was going "crazy"....very aggressive, screaming, throwing, aggressive toward peers....just absolutely phsycotic!! We took him off but he has not been the same since. He was also on Risperadol before Abilify and he had a simialr raction. No more psychiatrists for us,....he is now under the care of a neurologist and doing good so far.

J had an "ok" day today. We went shopping and he tapped me a few times but nothing bad. It is wild how a med will help one person and make another go wild. Lois

My son was also on Abilify and it made his problems 100 times worse. He was just

completely out of controll. They finally took him off of it and put him on

Vyvanse, it helps him alott his anger issues has improved alott. Tammy

>

> That is exactly what Ricky's psychiatrist told me...that Abilify would help

all the symptoms that he was having...aggression, etc.  Well, the month of July

was awesome, since then, life has been pure hell.  I am about done with psych

meds.  The meds he has been on, in my opinion, has caused even more regression

and problems, rather than the false promises that this one will really help him.

Lois,

I was wondering the same thing. I need something for Ricky that isn't going to cause more aggression.

, my DIL's ignorant Ped.Psy. put Karac on Strattera and Geodon at the same time over my protest. The Strattera caused terrible aggression and the ignorant M.D. upped the Geodon to 80mg's which caused TD I finally got my DIL to listen to me and take him off the meds. It took over a year before he got back to somewhat normal. He has never been as good as he was before all that. Can you believe that? Love and blessings, Pat K

Pat,

That is why we haven't put Tristan on meds, except the one time at age 5 (?) when he developed tics. He stopped making progress in academics at that time also. My concern is that the meds would stop all progress and he would lose the minimal language skills he has. BUT his hyperactivity and annoying behaviors have increased big time. Even my younger grandchildren are commenting, he didn't used to do that!!! UGH!

Karac has good days and not so good days, but I am just so thankful that he hasn't been aggressive with me in over a year.

We are having Thanksgivng at my middle daughters home. We have it there every year and Karac loves the family get togethers particularly at her house; so it should be a good day.

Isn't Tristan approaching the teen years? I have found most teens to be annoying. LOL, LOL. Does Tristan like to color? I am amazed at how much it calms Karac when we color together. I took some coloring sheets over to his house today and asked his little brother to color with him some over the holidays, and he said he would.

I hope you have a peaceful Thanksgiving. Love and blessings, Pat K
