Guest guest
I went to a school meeting where the director of the Program spoke all about OCD. I learned quite a bit and was impressed with his knowledge. I learned that anafranil (in certain studies) can be more effective than the SSRI's. And that many doctors don't prescribe it. But it doesn have more side effects. The program sounds great and I really want my dd to go there sometime. Maybe this summer would be a good time. I also learned that in order for the treatment to be successful, you have to have a full treatment plan and hierarchy. You CANNOT just dabble in ERP/CBT for it to be effective. You also have to expose them to their fears above and beyond the range of normalcy and over and over again. Looking at our situation, I feel we have really just dabbled in it. THis has helped to keep it at bay and helped reduce some behaviors, but that is all. I was impressed with it and just wanted to share a few things that stood out in my mind.
