Guest guest
I had to make the same choice about my 14 year old son. The residential placement was just what he needed. Behavior wise he was able to work his way up to coming home on weekends. We would pick him up Friday after school and bring him back Sunday night. We thought of it more as a residential school. Academically his instruction was all one on one and he did wonderfully. He had many friends, (making and keeping friends was one goal of the program.) I, too, felt as though I'd failed as a mother, but it turned out to be the best decision ever. We had wonderful weekends and he did well in school. He finally came home full time at the age of 17 and he is a changed boy! Who knows what his future would have held if we'd continued to try to deal with his aggressive and destructive behavior at home.Lindsey senhttp://5kidswdisabilities.wordpress.com
