That is great! I didnt know you can drink it while pregnant. i was

pregnant last year and my herbalist and acupuncturist made me come off of

EVERYTHING

i was taking. i ended up with a sinus and upper respirtory infection. all

i could do was the nasty antibiotic thing after i was so sick i couldnt

swallow liquid anymore. my throat was bad. no one in the alternative field

would give me anything more than natural prenatals. i ended up on high blood

pressure meds too.

next time i know that the tea works. please keep me updated on your

daughters pregnancy.

thanks

Hi, Hanan, It is fine for your daughter to continue to drink it,

making sure she also drinks enough water with it.

I myself have always continued drinking Kombucha during pregnancy and given

birth to very healthy babies.

Kombucha is not a drug, but a healthy, balancing food which can benefit

both mother and baby.

With best wishes,

Margret:-)

Hello:

My daughter (age 28 ) has been drinking KT for about a year and is

now pregnant with twins and is continuing to brew and drink it. I

have rellied on the trusted experience from the many people on this

list and have encouraged her to continue. All is going great she is

about 9 weeks along has had an ultrasound and has 2 healthy

heartbeats.

It hard to trust in the natural foods we have with todays " in the

face " drug pushing. I appreciate all I have learned from the many on

this list.

Thanks to all of you.

i didnt know what to do. both ther herbalist and accupuncturist, said no

herbal suppliments other than ginger for an upset stomach. the only one i had

to turn to was my ob/gyn . too many alternative health care providers are

too afraid to make a call on herbs for pregnant woman because there is no

research on what it may do to the fetus. i wasnt happy, but had to get rid

of

the infection or become dehydrated, which would of been worse on the fetus.

she is 10 months old now and very healthy. no infections, viruses, or

anything so far. only time she went to the doctor was for well visits and

inoculations. (we are leaving the country for a week in sept. so we had to do

that).

i cant wait to hear updates on your daughter.

thanks

Isn't that interesting, you stopped the good stuff only to go on the

antibiotics while PG. Dr's, what are they thinking sometimes. KT is

a food, organic food! The only danger would be watching for mold, if

in doubt throw it out! AND drink plenty of water! Some of the drugs

that Dr's think are " OK " during pregnancy is amazing! Educate

yourself and make good choices.

I will kepp all posted on her pregnancy, she is also a member of this

list so she may come on and update you all herself.

Best to you All,

~Connie~

There was a wonderful anecdote going around back in the dark ages when

I was pregnant. Two OB-GYN doctors were talking and they asked each

other if there were any activities that they told pregnant women not

to do. One doctor said he told them not to play golf; the other said

he had no problem with golf, but absolutely no horseback riding.

Turned out the first one hated golf and the second hated horseback

riding.

Many a couple have claimed that Kombucha helped them to have a baby.

However, once pregrant or nursing and for babies under 4 , Kombucha Tea

is not recommended. It may and has been reported safe but it is not

100% safe.

I agree with Margret that kombucha is not a drug and somewhat agree that

it is a balancing food - but as a food it is very weak and serves more

as a catalyst. According to Cornell University Food Study Kombucha Tea

contains typically 33 g/L of variuos (benefical) acids (and is typically

safe and healthy).

However in pregrancy certain deficiencies typically exist, for example

vitamin and minerals, as well as hormonal changes. The acids in kombucha

are " weak " acids and easily bind with calcium and magnesium to form

" alkalies " . That is one reason why Kombucha Tea, which is acetic (pH

3.0) is considered an alkaline-forming food. (pH above 7.0). To give an

honest answer, would depend upon the present overall health of your

daughter, combined with the strenght or weakness of the kombucha tea.

Each ferment is different, with varying degrees of acids and brewed

differently at least to the taste of that individual. For more

information on this please see my article online

There is nothing wrong with taking a beak from kombucha tea.
